When I was younger one of my favorite activities involved going to spend time with my grandma and grandpa in Dardanelle. My grandpa would take me on adventures that included arrowhead searching, back roads exploring, four-wheeling, and fishing. Not only would I go fishing with my Grandpa but with my dad and his friend as well. I loved to be the first to catch a fish or throw the line out waiting for a fish to bite. And when my dad or grandpa went fly fishing, I’d love to run around them and watch.
It wasn’t until after Austin and I planned this shoot that I began to think about how this shoot shows a glimpse into my roots. This is how I spent my weekends with my grandparents. From watching the men in my life fly fish, to swimming in creeks. And sometimes I forget this. But our roots create us. While I love to dress up nice and go see plays, I still love throwing on a t-shirt and exploring the backwoods to find a creek. And I still would rather drive a four-wheeler than drive a car.
Huge thank you to Austin for modeling!
